Mosquito Control in Virginia Begins with Finding the Standing Water

Our team begins every mosquito control visit with a full yard inspection to locate every water-holding container and low spot where Aedes albopictus can breed. We remove or treat those sites first, then apply a residual product only to the vegetation where adult mosquitoes rest. Follow-up visits after heavy rain check whether new containers have filled and re-treat as needed, because a single spray on resting spots loses effectiveness once breeding sites refill.

The same sequence adapts to each region we serve. In Tidewater we account for salt-marsh mosquitoes that travel inland from organized county districts, while in Northern Virginia we focus on retention ponds and wooded edges. Clay soils in the Piedmont hold water longer after storms, and the shorter season in the Shenandoah and southwest mountains means tighter timing between spring warm-up and fall cool-down.
